About Us
Founded in 2026, we are a community-driven NGO committed to making India more equitable, one village at a time.
Our Story
Basmati and Urmila Foundation was founded with a simple but powerful belief: that change begins at the grassroots level. Named after two remarkable women who embodied the spirit of service and resilience, the Foundation was born out of a commitment to translate compassion into action.
Registered as a Section 8 Company under The Companies Act 2013 with the Registrar of Companies (DARPAN ID: BR/2026/0378955), BUF is headquartered in Saharsa, Bihar — and works across multiple states to touch the lives of thousands of individuals. Our work spans health & family welfare, human rights, sports, women's development & empowerment, and skill development.
Every initiative we undertake is community-led, ensuring that the people we serve are active participants in their own transformation. We believe in building systems, not dependencies — empowering communities to sustain progress long after our direct intervention ends.
